Antyk Butyk merupakan handmade accessories karya dari Windy Dana, yang dimulainya pada September 2010. Sebelumnya Windy selama 11 tahun tinggal di Melbourne (Australia) untuk kuliah dan bekerja. Tahun 2009 Windy kembali ke Jakarta, karena mempunyai hobi utak-atik macam-macam barang tercetus ide untuk membuat aksesoris sendiri. Lama-kelamaan jadi banyak pesanan lalu menambah pegawai satu orang yang sebenarnya adalah pembantu rumah tangga di rumahnya.

Awalnya Windy membuat usaha grosiran, yaitu dengan mencari barang yang sudah jadi di Mangga Dua, lalu barang tersebut dimodifikasi. Windy sendiri belajar dari teman yang bisa membuat aksesoris, kemudian juga otodidak dengan melihat di youtube. Dia juga belajar bagaimana cara membuat resin sendiri di art shop ketika masih di Melbourne. Kalau halangan yang ada lebih ke arah supplier yang kurang profesionalisme dalam soal pekerjaan dengan alasan 'kekurangan dana.'

Produk Antyk Butyk hingga saat ini adalah kalung, gelang dan hair accessories dengan kisaran harga Rp 60K sampai Rp 200K. Tapi sekarang hair accessories lebih ke arah bridal, karena dulu Windy punya pengalaman membuat customized headband tapi malah jadi buang waktu dan tenaga yang tidak sebanding dengan harga barangnya.

Inspirasi desain menurut Windy bisa dari mana saja. Seperti kemarin pas limited edition yang pertama yaitu berbentuk mesin jam, inspirasi didapat dari iklan jam dari majalah. Kalung ini diberi nama Tick Tock. Bahan-bahan yang dipakai untuk membuat aksesoris adalah resin, akrilik dan kain songket, karena Windy menyukai hal-hal yang 'berbau' Indonesia terutama kain songket. Asal muasal nama Antyk Butyk didapat ketika Windy dan ibunya jalan-jalan ke Praha melihat sebuah toko bernama Antyk Desa, barang-barang yang dijual adalah barang-barang vintage, yang kebanyakan furnitur. Ibunya Windy lalu menyarankan supaya menggunakan nama Antyk. 'Desa' sendiri berarti 'toko' dalam bahasa Czech, namun penggunaan kata itu di Indonesia terasa kurang tepat. Kemudian karena Windy bercita-cita supaya produk aksesoris yang dijual beraneka ragam termasuk sepatu, jadilah memakai kata Butyk sebagai pelengkap nama tersebut.

Baru setahun resmi diluncurkan namun Antyk Butyk sudah pernah masuk ke dalam nominasi penghargaan 'Most Promising Accessories Brand' pada salah satu majalah di Indonesia. Tema aksesoris pada saat penganugerahan adalah 'Java Love' yang bernuansa etnik dan glamor, dengan aksesoris lengkap mulai dari kepala sampai pinggang. Desainnya mengambil budaya Jawa seperti tokoh pewayangan. 'Java Love' sendiri tidak harus romantic atau pretty, tetapi lebih karena Windy cinta kebudayaan Jawa.

Koleksi kalung dan headband Antyk Butyk juga sudah banyak dipakai oleh artis serta fashion blogger Indonesia seperti Fitri Tropica, Talitha Latief, Sonia Eryka dan Diana Rikasari. Kelebihan Antyk Butyk salah satunya adalah dengan memproduksi kalung yang bisa juga dipakai sebagai headband.

Australia Day

26th January is the Australia day, how I miss my town Melbourne so much. Sometimes i keep imagine my old days back at Melbourne, like what i did on Sunday, Saturday, or any other day beside when I was working Monday-Friday job.

Sunday I would go groceries shopping and went to church and cooked and hang out with my gals.
Saturday woke up at 5am and go driving for 2 hours to catch the wave, surfing with my gal NOVA till late arvo, go home took a shower, have a nice dinner with NOVA again.

Monday- Friday woke up at 5.30 get ready for work and work till 6pm hit the gym, by 7.30pm I will be home and had dinner by myself and surfing online, chatting away with my ex boyfriend who is now my husband :) or EBAY-ing or watching DVDs.

Well anyway here is a picture from one of my customer who studying at Melbourne wearing the ANYAM CHAIN necklace from December collection with Melbourne Central pyramid as the CBD icon.

It is 2012 and guess what, I moved to the new workshop on the 16th January 2012. It is more organized. I have my own DESK and CHAIR for a start, Mood board and glass board for me to write my notes.

Beside that I also have our own room for assembling with desk and chairs and another room for production in resin.

It was exhausted organized the floor but it was worth it. Now all things are organized.

So here are some pictures, it is not a glam place but it will do for this stage to get me started to make ANTYK BUTYK moving forward.

Hi Peeps

this is the last day for Antyk Butyk's workshop open in 2011 and I guess it will be the last few days to be spend in the same place.

After looking and looking for new place for our workshop, I didn't find the right one especially in the budget area. Suddenly my mom, offer her 4th floor office that is vacant. After few consideration that place will do at this stage.

So my new year's project is to be renovate the whole office become the workshop. I will post few pictures but not promising when it will be :)

Lots of things will be changing in year 2012 specially for Antyk Butyk. Starting from the line, concept, process well i guess everything then. Hopefully all work out well.

Last but not least we wish you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Growing up with MTV, fast food and the Internet, Generation Y is considered spoiled, self-involved and even narcissistic in more ways than one.

After all, this is the generation that grew up when successful entrepreneurs and rich kids were imbued with celebrity status — Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is arguably as famous as Paris Hilton!

But is that all there is? Not really. Given the fact that Gen Y has more tools at their disposal, a knack for thinking outside the box and a natural instinct to avoid a lifetime employment opportunity in the corporate sector, fearless Gen Yers could very well be the most entrepreneurial generation in history.

Jewelry designer Windy Dana is a case in point. With a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in multimedia studies, Windy has no formal training in fashion or the arts. Her 4-year stint as a fraud investigator in Melbourne was the only professional experience she had — not, exactly the most promising resume for an aspiring accessories designer.

But thanks to YouTube, Windy was able to hone her skills at designing and making pretty trinkets.

“I always loved fashion and jewelry. When I was living in Melbourne, I would shop at the vintage market and fashion bazaar and remodel my findings into new accessories,” Windy said.

Windy also had a fashion line back in Melbourne. But, juggling a nine-to-five job with a fashion line on the side proved to be too much for the 30-year-old. She moved back to Jakarta at the end of 2009, and six months later she was equipped with craft-making knowledge she gained from YouTube. It wasn’t long before she established her label, Antyk Butyk.

Meeting up with old friends was her first, and evidently most effective, marketing strategy. She told them about her new business, set up a BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) group and got permission to add them to the group. She then started posting photographs of her designs regularly.

A business was born.

“Within three months I had created three different BBM groups. I also took the business to Facebook, creating a page where my friends can view the products I designed,” she said.

According to Windy, free-of-charge social media like Facebook are a very effective platform for small businesses. But, she is quick to add that there’s more to online marketing than just uploading pictures and status updates.

“When it comes to social media marketing, business owners must constantly interact with the customer by featuring new products regularly. They also must be smart in associating their brands with the other websites and bloggers their customers may be attracted to,” she explained.

In her case, she collaborated with local fashion bloggers Diana Rika Sari and Sonia Erika in order to reach a wider audience.

Her efforts paid off when she finally earned a nod from the fashion world when Barli Asmara, who designed her wedding gown, requested a set of accessories to go with his new collection. This led to a business deal with Gaya, an upscale boutique in Plaza Indonesia that decided to sell the accessories Windy had designed for Barli.

The next thing she knew, she was asked to join the 2011 Cleo Fashion Awards and showcased at Jakarta Fashion Week in November. The collection showcased at fashion week, called Java Love, saw a series of delicate necklaces and bracelets made of resin, acrylic, beads, laces and traditional Indonesian fabrics.

Windy didn’t win a Cleo award, but she said it was good exposure for her business. More importantly, the competition allowed her to make some new friends, like Agra Satria and Yasmina Yesy.

Antyk Butyk stayed true to their trait (and name) and went with an ethnic theme. But although they called their collection Java Love, their collection was not Javanese. Nor was it romantic. Correct me if my Indonesian anthropology knowledge flunk, but what I saw was tribal atmosphere with Torajanese touches. Since the first look until the end, all you’d see was (modern) warrior princess after warrior princess.

Anthropological reference aside, Java Love still successfully conveyed the “glam ethnic” vibe through their collection. Unlike the previous two nominees, Mono did not give big and bold elements with minimalist color, but dainty chains and multicolored ornaments. Java Love also showed us the most complete accessories, as the models were wrapped in the pieces from head to waist.

As pretty as the collection was, Antyk Butyk could put just a tiny hint of drama in their presentation. It’s a pity that the rather flatness of it made Java Love’s presentation become on of the most forgettable nominees.

Foreign Skies by G.H.O.S.T. won the The Most Promising Accessories Brand award, but my kudos still goes out to all of the nominees who have made it possible for us to wear astonishing artworks instead of mere accessories.

This November giving me all the jitters, i worked and experienced the time of my life.

From designing, technical meeting, fitting, modification, fitting, preparation, last fitting, last minute checklist, woke up at 4am , arrived at 5am, watching the last rehearsal, 30 minutes power nap, press conference, saying my pray, backstage preparation, SHOW is ON, and yayyy is done.

I could not believe that I sat for 5 hours to watch the live coverage of the royal wedding. Love the ceremony, Prince William is such a romantic. He told his bride that she looks beautiful when she arrived at the altar, always smiling and later on at the balcony appearance, he asked her either they should kiss for the public and guess what they KISSED TWICE. Awwwwww

Now about the dress, is elegant but not what I expected. Princess Katherine possible acting safe to keep things traditional and simple. The tiara, I loves it. Loves her sister's dress. But above of all she looks stunning fit as a princess indeed.

Hopefully they live happily ever after.
Coz of that 5 hours give me new idea for my next collection. So stay tuned peeps.

Antyk Butyk is releasing new line called DNA-9, where the collection delivers casual, edgy and unique styles. The materials used are also different. Resin, rope, hinge, locks, used stamps, unused comics and lots more. The concept of this line is recyle reuse reduce. Trying to do small thing to the world to make it a better place.

At this moment DNA-9 will be available at Bloops at Tebet also available here, FB and hopefully anywhere around the world (finger crossing). Wish me luck peeps.

India.... is one of the place that I have to visit before I die. I really love their culture, especially their craft, clothes, jewelleries and of course the colours of their daily life. Even their spices are colourful or the dust then they used when they have the carnival.
Well now, I have to save up so I can go to India and see all the colours of life with my own eyes
